Empowered Women

Ideal Home is going to organize the farewell program for the 2nd phase women of the Ideal Home on 16th May, 2012. We have been running this 2nd phase program since January 2011. During this stay 77 Women and 14 Children have got the service from Ideal Home in both of the program: domestic violence and girls trafficking. Few of them got the long run training but most of the participants from girls trafficking took short-term service of safe home and they got psychosocial counseling, legal support after that family reunion. Few of them who have not easy access for family/social reunion, have participated in different kinds of training as well as awareness programs. During the stay as usual they got psychosocial counseling, adult literacy classes and health check up and counseling, legal counseling, class for spiritual happiness, cutting and sewing, sanitary pad making, handicraft making, candle making, hand embroidery etc. We are planning to enlarge the business centre and planning to provide employment opportunity for the interested who want to stay with us and around us. We think business centre is one of the permanent practice centres, employment center as well one of the sources of permanent income.

This program is especially targeted to the women and the children who suffered from the domestic violence and girl trafficking. The participants of the program are from illiterate community, so called untouchable community, the poor family background and lack of awareness. From the women empowerment program they have got a new life to adjust in the society.

Most of the women from the 1st phase are working on their own business centre, some of the others are working for the business centre and some of them have become cutting, sewing and handicraft trainer.

This is the matter of the public concern so everyone has to pay attention on it and work together to minimize it. So we request to you all concerned organization/ persons/ community….to join the hands together.

ideal_homeIdeal Women Development Centre (IWDC), previously known as Adarsha Nari Club, brings together a group of highly committed, enthusiastic and motivated social workers, striving to improve the status of women in Nepal. The organisation was born out of a desire to challenge conservative and traditional, social and cultural constraints which are preventing women and children from living a life where basic rights and needs are fulfilled.

IWDC is concerned primarily with social development, in a society where obstacles and challenges include prostitution, domestic violence, trafficking of women and girls, dowry practices, unsafe abortion, and HIV/AIDS education and control. Regarding these issues, IWDC is working as a pressure group at the local level.

MISSION
VISION
APPROACH
IWDC will work with women and disadvantaged rural people to facilitate a process of empowerment which will give them the skills and knowledge necessary to identify and solve local problems. IWDC will work with the community in various sectorial activities to improve the social and economical conditions and hence quality of life for the target people. To generate and inspire self-employment leading to self-dependence, where the diversity of internal resources and potentials possessed by women are fully mobilised and utilised. For this, we carry out so many activities at the local as well as national level with the objective to bring out the potential of the women of the Nepalese society at the most. Direct consultation with the target community and members, together with community participation at the decision, implementation and evaluation stages, is essential in all activities conducted by IWDC. This is the principal approach of our organisation that helps us to achieve the goals and objectives of Ideal Women Development Centre, Chitwan.
